Outcome : Students will be able to obtain strong understanding on IB mathematics,Also, by exclusively going through some of exam questions during class as well as the test hour after class, students will be prepared for their school test as well as for the May exam,Extensive use of calculator will be taught during class, starting from how to sketch well to applying N-solver. *Test paper will be sent out individually upon subscription. 

* We have a set curriculum, yet the day could change accordingly in some circumstances.

* All the class has certain grade boundaries. You will see the level of understanding required during the test. You are encouraged to pass 70%. 

* if the student does not pass the test above 70%, they are more than welcome to have classes before joining the winter class. Class is available on Tuesday and Thursday.

What we do

3 classes

Functions and transformations

We will be focusing on learning essential and fundamental parts of mathematics; functions. By defining and examining through 4 key functions, students will be  able to apply the concept to exam questions as well as other parts of mathematics, such as Calculus

5 classes

Sequence and Series/Induction/Binomial

We will be focusing on Sequence and Series, Induction, BInomial Expansion, Permutation and Combination, Polynomial and Remainder THeorems. This session will focus on exam skills and the extensive use of calculator. The sequence and Series questions appear quite often for the past recent years, so we will be going through some predictable questions in the future.

2 classes

Log and Exponents

We will spend an hour going over Exponential and Logarithmic functions and equations. We will be going through 7 essential laws of logarithmic functions. We will also have a look at modeling with exponential growth and decay, allowing us to use the Half-Life. Then we will move to the chapter Complex. In Complex, we will focus on the benefit of being able to convert 3 different forms of complex values.

Trigonometry

We will be focusing on Trigonometry. Trigonometry is one of the essential parts of IB mathematics. Its use and application is almost everywhere, hence strong emphasis will be made. From Laws of Cosine and Sine in 3D case to the Compounded angle and its advanced questions, students will be able to enjoy their exam style questions of trigonometry and the use of calculator to solve for paper 2 style questions.

Differentiati I

We will be focusing on first part of Calculus: Differentiation. We will learn major rules of differentiation as well as the applications. Students will be able to enjoy exam style questions regarding calculus, as well as applying the understanding from previous periods to build up an equation to differentiate with. We will also learn the techniques of applying calculator to achieve certain points for the derivative.

1~1.5 classes

Differentiation II

we will go over advanced understanding of limit and use the concept of first principle to proof the derivatives of certain functions, such as polynomial and trigonometry. We will also prove rules of differentiations and apply them accordingly.

3~4 classes

Differentiation II

we will investigate the use of differentiations for

  • sketching graphs
  • Optimization
  • Related rates

You are expected to have extensive understanding of trigonometry as well as function sketching.

Learning the application of integration with area, volume and kinematics

  • Kinematics and Calculus
  • Rates and the quantity with the integration

Complex I: Learning 3 different forms of complex to work out coordinates and exact angles

Induction II: How to apply induction for fields of calculus, trigonometry and complex

Complex II: Proving and Applying De Moirvre’s Theorem for angles, values and integration. Roots of unity with the sum and product of roots, as well as Fundamental Theorem of Algebra

we will go over vector definition, and continue to learn with the algebra of vectors and how the operations could be translated in geometry

Vector: Learning Lines and Planes, Measuring angles and distances. How to create a vector equations with given information, application with kinematics

Probability: 7 Essential Laws of probability and proving independence. Conditional probability as well as Bayes THeorem

Statistics: Distinguishing Discrete and Continuous Random Variables, learning statistics parametres such as Expected Value and Variance. Learning key distributions as well combining them together.

Things to prepare:

  1. If they struggle with prerequisite materials, such as functions, sequences and series, trigonometry and other fields they feel lacking, they are encouraged to take the following options
    1. Have 1:1 class online
    2. Refer to Gurume 인강 to improve their understanding
  2. We will go over how the class is conducted in the first class. All the materials will be uploaded on google classroom. Homework and solution will be given accordingly.
  3. Test is given every week and the student needs to hand in the next Wednesday. They will be tested 3 subjects during the winter.
