안녕하세요 저는 초등학교 시절부터 약 7년간 호주에서 유학을 했으며 고등학교 과정은 한국에서 경기외고에 입학하여 IB Diploma 과정을 이수하였습니다. 현재는 홍콩과학기술대학교에서 Econ&Finance를 전공하고 있습니다. 고등학교 시절 AP와 SAT도 동시에 공부하여 IB와 AP SAT 과정의 차이점과 공부스타일을 명확히 파악하고 있는게 저만의 장점이라고 자부할 수 있습니다. 실제로 과외를 가르쳐오면서 각각 다른 유형의 프로그램을 공부하는 학생이 겪는 어려움이 어떻게 다른지 확연하게 다른 과외 선생님들에 비해 눈에 잘 들어왔으며, 어떻게 해야 IB 또는 AP SAT 를 요렁있게 공부할 수 있는지 전수가 가능합니다. 제가 이수한 IB 과목은 다음과 같습니다. HL: Economics, Biology, English B SL: Japanese, Korean, Math TOK: A EE: English A 가장 자신있는 수업은 IB Economics, TOEFL, Speech(발표를 해야 하는 과제), 자기소개서(홍콩, 미국 중심) 입니다. IB 경제는 학생이 입문단계에서 수업을 찾는 경우, 전반적인 것을 알지만 IA만 약한 경우 등 다양한 경우가 있어서 학생에게 기본적으로 맞춰줍니다. 전체적으로 수업은 IA를 봐주면서 Paper1에서 너무 길게 안 쓰고 점수를 잘 받을 수 있는 방법을 알려주기도 하면서 문제를 잘 푸는 방법을 알려주는데 중점을 둡니다. 학생이 너무 기본이 없는 경우 이론도 다지지만 에센스만 뽑아서 가르치고 나머지는 Paper 별 비중과 특징에 맞춰 개념을 적용하여 효율적으로 문제를 풀 수 있을 지 알려줍니다. TOEFL 같은 경우 대부분 Writing과 Speaking을 어려워해서 공인된 템플릿을 참고하여 고득점을 맞을 수 있게 도와줍니다. 자기소개서는 학생들이 자신을 어필하면서도 창의적으로 쓸 수 있게 도와줄 수 있습니다. 홍콩에 있는 대학에 입학한 경험과 미국 입시를 준비한 경험을 바탕으로 첨삭 및 수정 가이드를 줄 수 있습니다. Speech 수업의 경우, 발표해야하는 주제나 형식에 따라 학생에게 필요한 것을 제공합니다. 특히 화술이 화려해질 수 있게, 자신있게 말하는 태도 등 speech에 대한 태도와 내용을 전반적으로 도와줍니다. 또한 최대한 한국식 영어에서 벗어날 수 있게 코멘트를 하며 실제 발표예시를 보여주거나 연습을 시키면서 실시간으로 코멘트를 주며 즉시 학생이 피드백을 받고 수정할 수 있게 합니다. I have been tutoring for the last two years with students from all kinds of backgrounds. Ranging from IB to AP, teaching various programs has enabled me to gain the hindsight and upperhand knowledge of how to tackle each program in the most efficient and effective way. Each program definitely requires different set of skills and study methods, which many students and parents often take a long time to realize. Once a student is paired with an experienced guru such as myself and other teachers, the study process and journey can become much more enjoyable and efficient. My best traits to appeal are my amicable personality and motivational ways of teaching. I have tried dozens of teaching methods from the start, and I slowly refined my distinct style of teaching over the last few tutor experiences that saw great results in terms of improving students' grades in a short matter of time. My tutor philosophy is that every client should at least receive a trial lesson first before making a solid decision, this is because blindly choosing a well profiled teacher can often result in undesired circumstances for both parties. I first bond with the student, and if the student feels comfortable and confident about the possible future lessons, that's when the actual tutor process begins. I have kept my philosophy until now and I would like to carry this on to any interested students who are willing to give their academic journey a fruitful twist.
