어렸을 때부터 (12살) 영국 유학을 하며 Wellington College라는 기숙사 학교에서 Top Scholarship 을 받고 5년동안 중.고등학교를 다니고 옥스퍼드에서 학사 석사를 하였습니다. 석사하는 동안 교환 프로그램을 통해 프린스턴 대학에서 석사 연구를 반년동안 하였습니다. 대학교부터 꾸준히 iGCSE, IB 과외 및 대입 멘토링을 해왔고 생화학 전공에 맞게 연구원에 들어갈 옵션이 있었지만 전 학생들 가르치는게 좋고 아이들이 학업성취 결과가 나올때의 뿌듯함에 졸업 후에는 그루미를 설립하고 가르침을 계속 하고 있습니다. 중.고등학교에서는 GCSE 와 IB를 이수했으며 어렸을 때부터 영국에 있어서 언어를 많이 했었습니다 (불어, 라틴, 그리스어). 이와 같이 과학 외에도 여러가지 다방면의 학문을 좋아하였지만 가장 잘했던 생물, 화학을 IB에서도 하게 되고 대학에서도 전공하게 되었습니다. HL - Bio, Chem, Maths SL - English Lang & Lit, History, French EE - Chem Chemistry Option은 Biochemistry로 하였습니다. 가장 가르치기 좋아하는 과목은 화학에서도 10단원 Organic Chemistry (favourite) 8단원 Acids and Bases 7단원 Equilibrium 4단원 Bonding 3단원 Periodicity 이 됩니다. 저의 수업 자료는 아래와 같은 노트와 기출문제집로 나뉘어 있습니다. 노트 - Pearson 서적의 압축 버전 기출문제집 - 단원별로 나뉘어진 연도별 시험문제 및 Pearson/Oxford/Cambridge 서적의 연습문제집 수업 스타일 1 개념설명을 할 땐 학생들이 쉽게 그리고 재미있게 이해할 수 있도록 비유 설명과 모형을 사용하는 편입니다. 4, 8, 10단원에 특히 많이 사용 될 수 있는 Molecular Kit을 애용합니다 (많은 학교에서 이용/ 저도 고등학교때 학교 수업에서 이용). 2. 기출문제 위주 시험준비를 할 땐 제 기출문제집으로 유형별 문제풀이를 짚어줍니다. *시간/여유가 되면 수업 외 학생과 밥도 먹으면서 형/오빠 존재로서 학업/유학생활에 동기부여가 될 수 있는 이야기/조언 해주는 걸 좋아합니다. 생화학 전공 외에 대학교때 처음 코딩을 접한 후로 그루미 포털 사이트를 만들기까지 코딩에 대한 중요성/실용성을 깨달았습니다. 때문에 과목 수업 외에 미국 대입에 일부분인 방과 후 활동 프로젝트 컨설팅/멘토링을 제공하고 있습니다. 1. 코딩을 기반으로 하는 어플리케이션 제작/운영 2. 영상 편집을 기반으로 하는 유튜브 채널 제작/운영 I am a graduate from Oxford University with BA and MSc in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry. I was awarded an Exhibition by Oriel for academic excellence, and was a visiting scholar at Princeton University during my 4th year. Before Oxford, I held the top academic scholarship at Wellington College, one of leading boarding schools in the UK. I like teaching which is why after graduation I’m working in the education sector, tutoring and mentoring students - I have been tutoring Biology, Chemistry and Maths to students and helping them prepare for university admissions in Chemistry and Biochemistry. I have taken GCSEs and IB at Wellington College and have had broad interests in a range of studies including biology, chemistry and languages (French, Latin and Greek). When explaining concepts and ideas, I tend to make comparisons and use models/kits to help students understand. I love using Molecular Kit which is often used in school chemistry class. 2. For exam preparation revision class, using my question bank, I go through the different types of possible exam questions. Now days, I'm an active UK university admissions consultant visiting high performing high schools in China. Recently I have given a presentation to 40 students at RDFZ, one of the top schools in China on Oxbridge admissions process. All tutorial directions will be decided after the initial meeting with the student and also depending on the student's learning speed, attitude and goals. This means that for uni entrance mentorship, students' areas of interests in the subject and extracurricular readings need to be identified before any feedback work on personal statement is done. As for GCSE and IB revision tuition, I believe that it is important to identify the topics that the students find difficult by giving them a past paper to do and then drill the areas of weakness with multiple past papers.
