I am originally from South Korea, grew up in Sri Lanka, Korea and Vietnam and study Economics and Management at the University of Oxford. I have always been involved in and genuinely enjoyed sharing my knowledge or skills. Also, I have been exposed to multiple cultures, especially since I attended international schools and a Korean public school.
I believe covering the contents and objectives of the course is critical. Perspective and the ability to critically analyse the material stem from the understanding of the course. Making the material their own is of course the students’ responsibility, but I do my best to provide them with the relevant information and skills. Especially for economics or management, thorough understanding of the content and the literature is essential but maybe too vast. I will highlight the important theories and concepts. Secondly, I train the students to write high quality essays and answer questions in a way that is feasible during the examinations. Practice is the key here, and detailed feedback is also important.
During school vacations, I tutored seven students IB economics and IGCSE economics, business studies and geography. This summer, I worked for Teach For All Korea, where I participated in creating the syllabus for an after-school program.
